[comp.windows.x] XView,SUN386i,fonts problem

neb@sioux.cis.ohio-state.edu (nebojsa jaksic) (03/10/90)

Hi,
I have installed X11R4 in /files1/appl
and XView in /files1/appl/usr/local. When I try:
/files1/appl/usr/local/xview/bin:39} olwm
I get:
OLWM fatal error: can't load glyph font "-sun-open look glyph-*-*-*-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-*-*"
; exiting

But I know that these fonts exist in /files1/appl/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc.
Also they are listed in /files1/appl/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc/fonts.dir

So, I must be doing something wrong. Could anybody help. BTW, I am running
SunOS 4.0.1.

Thanks and sorry to bother you. neb@cis.ohio-state.edu

The X server only knows about the font directories that existed when the
server was started. Use the xset command with option +fp to tell an
already running server about new fonts.
