[comp.windows.x] MAKE FOR X

MATLEVAN@EKU.BITNET (03/12/90)

Hello,
I find the make/imake files more than a little confusing.
After applying a patch (fix-3) what do I mumble to cause a
Minimum rebuild? (I *just* installed X when fix-3 appeared *)

More generally what are the options to make and what do they do?

In particular I want to change the "install" command from bsdinstal.sh
to bsdinstal but I don't want to trigger a complete build.

I have found that several clients require the gcc option -fwritable strings
(A/UX + gcc-1.37). I don't want to use that option for all modules.
I would like to be able to stop make after all of the make files are
built, modify the ones that require "writable string" and then continue
  with the build process.

  Thanks...Jerry
