Hello, World! Can someone please explain to me the layers involved in getting a keystroke from hardware to an application on an X workstation? What level does the X server fit in, how can you use the server to affect keyboard input, what exists to control keyboard input at the OS level, where does termcap come into play, how does an app know which termcap entry to use?... I'd like a fairly detailed explanation; I'm not a novice unix user, it's just that there are some gaps in my knowledge... Please mail to me directly, I don't read this group regularly.
