HELP! I'm real confused. I built X11R4 on a color SPARCstation 1 with a GX board. It ran wihtout a hitch. Now, I run the same binaries on a MONOCHROME SPARCstation 1 and some programs run and some hang. THe hung programs seem to want to do graphics and are stuck awaiting a socket connections (with the server?). For example, run "ico" on the color Sparc -- no problem. Run "ico" on the mono, and the thing hangs. Tracing the programs system calls gives me lots of output, but ends with open ("/var/yp/binding/cs.hope.edu.2", 0, 036734076661) = 5 flock (5, 06) = -1 EWOULDBLOCK (Operation would block) read (5, "".., 2) = 2 close (5) = 0 getsockname (4, 0xf7fff07c, 0xf7fff08c) = 0 sendto (4, "".., 84, 0, 0x18f30, 16) = 84 select (64, 0xf7fff01c, 0, 0, 0x18f44) = 1 recvfrom (4, "".., 1600, 0, 0xf7fff008, 0xf7fff018) = 88 gettimeofday (0xf7fff1a0, 0xf7fff198) = 0 close (3) = 0 socket (2, 1, 0) = 3 setsockopt (3, 6, 1, 0xf7fff274, 4) = 0 connect (3, "".., 16) = ...and we're hung... Has someone run into this before? Should I be doing something different with the mono SPARC? Thanks. -- Mike Jipping Internet: jipping@cs.hope.edu Hope College BITNET: JIPPING@HOPE Department of Computer Science Voice: Hey!
