[comp.windows.x] Help: annoying XTerm feature

dji@orville.nas.nasa.gov (the dirty vicar) (03/20/90)

Please help.

If you know how to make XTerm stop redrawing my screen after I exit from
vi or less, please tell me... it's driving me crazy! The ultimate silliness
of this feature is that if I "less" a file which has fewer lines than my
window, I see *nothing*! The file zips by and then the screen is redrawn.

Your help is appreciated. Please reply by e-mail - I don't often read news.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my plea for help. I got several
solutions to the problem, the best one being the following:

XTerm*titeInhibit: true

If this line is in .Xdefaults, xterm will not redraw the screen.
