I'm having problems with the new xdbx on Sun 3s, Sun 4s, and DECstations. I've got a 3 line C program that I'm testing it with. The program runs fine without the debugger. Here's a summary: Sun 3: xdbx starts up, I position the window where I want it, click the mouse, and xdbx exits with no messages. Sun 4: xdbx starts up ok, displays the program, etc. I click on a line and click on "stop at". xdbx exits with a seg violation. I have also seen the symptoms described below for the same program on Sun 4s. DECstation 3100: xdbx starts up, I click the mouse to position the window. The window is displayed, there's no text in the boxes, and my system stops responding. The disk is being beat on madly. After about a minute or so, xdbx exits with "Error: Cannot perform malloc". It looks like most of the processes on the system have been swapped out. Any help would be most appreciated! I have had the same problems with xdbx on our Vax running BSD 4.3. The window "ghost" shows up to allow me to place the window, but then the application exits without any messages at all. I am running the version that was announced on the net as being compatible with R4. Also, I noticed that the patches that were announced for xdbx have already been applied to this version, so whatever is wrong was not fixed in them. -- ___________________________________________________________________________ Douglas Scott doug@dept.csci.unt.edu
