Well, here we go again. I need to install a specific colormap for a particular application. Currently I'm running it under "twm". Here's what happens: sometimes the colormap is installed on entry and sometimes it's not. "xwininfo" reports that the colormap exists but is "not installed". ARGHH! I've been banging at this for weeks; it behaved properly for awhile, and just started misbehaving again. I've checked to see that I didn't screw anything up. This does not seem to be related to the problem addressed by salem@think.com, where invoking a PopUpMenu bollixed the colormap loader; anyway, I've installed salem's patch. I believe my colormap specification is ICCCM compliant, so please accept that my difficulty does not come from using XInstallColormap, since I'm not using it. I'll buy a dozen roses of any available color for whoever presents the solution. Dennis O'Neill denio@seismo.css.gov
