[comp.windows.x] Porting X to lil' ole 3b1

brad@slammer.UUCP (Brad Isley) (04/11/90)

Well, I got the Maxtor-1140 up and have a source to get X11R4. Now, if
Milton makes a run of his HD2 boards, I'll put the ST4096 back in and have
some real estate :-). Then, (just for educational purposes, of course) I'm
tossing around the idea of porting X to the 3b1. Yea, I know there isn't much
real estate on the screen, but then, I could always install a Starlan board
and hook up an X terminal, right? I have seen some discussion of this in this
newsgroup before. Topics such as installing the vidpal board for speed, etc.
came up and sounds good. I've read about mgr and am interested. Some folks
at work I know have some experience in producing some of the first commercial
applications available under X, so I can get help from there and the net.
So, what does everybody think??? Am I crazy? Am I a masochist? I just want
to learn about X, and if it results in a working port on the 'lil-ol 3b1'
then that's OK too.
