A nice thing about the free enterprise system is that if someone
can make the product for less, people will be more likely to buy
theirs than the more expensive one (quality aside), and the more
expensive manufacturer will go out of business.
If Lauren is overcharging, then someone else could easily compete
with him while still making a respectable profit (that's not a
dirty word, is it?).
I do not see this happening, so it is reasonable to conclude (for
now) that Lauren's estimates are reasonable. Those who disagree
should do themselves and everyone else a favor by producing an
equivalent but cheaper model.
