Let's face it, there is little news on the net (surprise!). The different groups are used for flaming and character assaination. I, therefore, make the following *modest* proposal. There should be three news groups titled: 1. net.news 2. net.flame 3. net.response All of the existing news groups would be sub-catagories of each of the above. Net.news would be used only for information, much like a newspaper's articles. Net.flame would be used for INITIAL flaming and character assasination, like a newspaper's editorial pages. Net.response would be used for ALL follow-ups to net.flame. This would allow those who want to use the net as a source of information to read only net.news. Those who feel they must respond to an article would use net.flame. And all of us who don't care to follow the flame of the flame of the flame can stay away from net.response and not waste so much of our time. *** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE ***

[FLAME ON!!!!] It seems to me that all of the attempts in real life to limit folks to net.flame have failed. What we really need is to write an expert system for detecting flames and...-;) Jon Shapiro
