Having bought X.V11R4 (client only) up on our sequent balance, I noticed that
text in a Xaw Text Widget is not displayed.
The text is there (you can select it (no highlight) and then paste it somewhere)
you can also use the file insert, search/replace options etc but still no text
is displayed. If you force the widget to have lots of text in it, i.e. do
a file insert of /etc/termcap or some such thing when you use the scrollbars
you can get some text showing up. But still if you cover the widget then
uncover it again it doesn't redisplay.
I have spent weeks! tracing sample programs that use Xaw Text Widgets with dbx
and it does seeem to get all the relevent events, and seems to call all the
'right' things, but still no text.
The sequent balance is running DYNIX V3.0.14, which is a BSD 4.2 derivative,
with 6 ns32032 processors & (wait for it .... 16M memory ! :-( ).
The servers that I have used to test it include:-
Mac IIcx (X.V11R4 - monocrome)
Sun 3/60 & Sun 3/50 running X.V11R4
Sun 4/260
HP (something or other) running X.V11R4
With all these there have been no problems with Text Widgets. Also Yaser Doleh
<doleh@math-cs.kent.edu> told me that he has had the same problems.
Please, please can someone help, as this has caused me many sleepless nights
and many arguments with my SO.
