[comp.windows.x] Children in Athena Widget set

rmartin@topaz.rutgers.edu (Richard Martin) (06/14/90)

Is there a way in the athena widget set to create several widgets
that are direct children of the root window? I am trying to create several
separate widgets that are under the control of the window manager, and
I can only get the toplevel widget to do that. Any Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

XtCreatePopupShell() should do the trick. Popup Shells are, by definition,
children of the root.

For an example, take a look at the client application "xman" provided on the R4
core distribution.
