[comp.windows.x] xterm bitmaps, Arrghhhh!!

) (06/14/90)

I'm trying to get my windows "iconised" and from what the X11/R3 docs say
I have to pass a request to the resource manager to tell it to use
an icon rather than a name when iconised. So in my case where I have a whole
bundle of "xterm's" knocking around the shop I thought it would be
nice to have a differnet icon for each xterm (Wow! what an original
thought!! Pass GO collect 200 quid do not go to Jail etc....).

Unfourtuantly this does't work (Basrtard bastard bast bar...!)
What I tried was:-

xterm -sb -vb -xrm 'XTerm*Bitmap: /home/X11/X11/bitmaps/kip'

xterm comes up, I close it and it says "Xterm" Arrgghh!! No little
picture of a kipper or anything... If I had the money I'd buy the rather
nice looking "Wiley" Manuals which have been recomended. But since I
don't actually have to have X (everyone else runs Sunview) I am
resorting to a general grovel (and a chance to show that my spelling
is only second to that of a Dyslectic penguin wearing very dark sun
glases and a pair of left handed boxing gloves..)

Now if one of you X peeps out there would reply (preferably with a
general as well as a actual solution to the above, or point me
in the correct direction in the X11/R3 tape docs) I can get on
and find some more things to fail to use.

Ta very much chaps and chapesses!
