[comp.windows.x] Xw and the translation manager

I am currently using the X11R2 release distributed by Intel running
Unix System V 3.2 and the hp widget set.  When I attempt to use the
textedit widget, the translations are completely messed up.  Rather
than getting the letters of the alphabet, it is converting them in
to editting commands thus making the widget completely useless.  It gives
me the message: X Toolkit Warning: Overriding earlier translation
manager actions.

In addition if I use the Xt widget asciistring and I attempt to change
the translation mappings, they will not accept any rules of precedence,
or override any of the previously defined translations.  What I'm trying
to do should be simple, what am I doing wrong?
