This would be a windowed tool for dealing with server access control. I have not done any X programming, and can not see myself having time to write this beast (due to learning time), and wonder if anyone out there has one. (Or will the description motivate somebody to write one!) What I visualise is a window, with several labelled buttons (names of machines), that are clicked to toggle whether they are allowed to connect to the server. The window will quickly allow you to see which hosts are able to connect, and alter who can connect. Names of new machines can be added (via a pop-up dialog box?), and removed (by some means), and the window grows up and down to fit (ala Twm). I would imagine that the tool would periodically interrogate the server for _actual_ xhost control list, and update display accordingly. The initial set of hosts could be the union of those currently allowed via server, and those specified on command line. So, if anybody has anything like this (or would like me to test their new xhosttool :-), let me know.
