Dearest Net-OIDs: Greetings! I bring to you today a tale of much woe and sore eyes. I just got my handy dandy new monochrome SS1+. Well after unpacking it gleefully and listening to some melodious audio demos, I decided to actually try and use it for work (what a concept). The utter visual hell I faced trying to look at it for more than 2 minutes was enough to make me rub my eyes in agony. THE SCREEN FLICKERS RAPIDLY!!!!!! ARRRRRRGHHHHHH!!!! I thought that this *must* be my eyes at first and quickly swapped the monitor --all the time patting myself on the back heartily for having been such a smart lad. BUT NO !!!!the flicker returned on two new monitors. It is particularly egregious with the vanilla X11R4 gray stipple root window. My whole background buzzes and seethes with demon frenzy! Why did Sun do this to me ?? At this point I feel I have three solutions: . buy gradually more and more powerful glasses until I am legally blind...that is if the darn flicker doesn't induce epilepsy and kill me via seizure first . throw my SS1+ off a large cliff and laugh maniacally as the monitor shatters into a million tiny fragments...flicker at me willya... . ask the video-gurus on Usenet on why this problem has arisen and how to work around it. I'll do anything short of soldering... You guess which alternative I choose... Send many wonderful answers; help my sore eyes.
