I am using xdm on both Sun3 and Sun4 workstations. I am happy with its functionality, but have two questions concerning its usage. 1) Can xdm start from rc.local, or any other startup file. Mine seems to have a problem starting from rc.local 2) Whenever output is sent to the console while xdm is in its "login state", the screen gets screwed up and sometimes lost. Is there any mechanism for redrawing the screen at certain intervals, or a tool which can be invoked via cron to send a signal to xdm to refresh its screen? I see this question is not in the list of FAQ posted a few days ago, so I assume it has not been discussed. If it has and I missed it... Can xdm start from rc.local, or any other startup file. Yes. We have xdm started from rc.local on lots of machines here. Is there any mechanism for redrawing the screen at certain intervals, or a tool which can be invoked via cron to send a signal to xdm to refresh its screen? Someone posted xdm changes to capture console output, perhaps they'll resend them to you.
