Permanent postings are a good idea. But how does it get done? A problem mentioned was updating them upon change. Simple, when sending out the new posting send along with it a control message cancelling the old posting. This has the added benefit of letting all the newsgroups readers know that a policy has changed or something. Causing problems with 2.10.2? If we really want this feature then change the algorithm. change the algorithm, you say? a popular idea, but surely you know that between A news (the last known working version of netnews software) (ok, i'm stretching the truth a bit) and the current version, there have been several major changes. in any case, what did you have in mind? peter
