This brings up an interesting point that I agree with. Perhaps we ought to
consider setting up future releases of news (specifically postnews) so that
multiply posted groups have a 'Followup-To:' line that causes all followups
to go to ONLY the first group in a list. This makes the assumption that the
first group in the list is the primary group, and would allow you to post an
initial message to groups of interest to let people know about the topics,
and then have them join in in the primary group for the rest of the
discussion. This might help curb some of the creeping group rot I've seen
in some topics (things that start in one or two groups and end up
irritating people in 8 or 9).

Rick? how hard is this? It is worth doing?
