I'm looking for a window manager that supports a virtual root larger than the physical display, and allows you to pan around on the virtual root. The application is to allow displaying part of desktop using an lcd projector, that doesn't have enough resoultion to see the whole desktop at once. I saw this feature demonstrated in the new Solbourne window manager, but apparently that software is only available bundled with their hardware. Does anyone know of another implementation? -- Ken Mandelberg | km@mathcs.emory.edu PREFERRED Emory University | {rutgers, gatech}!emory!km UUCP Dept of Math and CS | km@emory.bitnet NON-DOMAIN BITNET Atlanta, GA 30322 | Phone: (404) 727-7963

I've done some work on this using the r4 twm as a basis. at the
moment you get a virtual desktop with a display similar to that in
swm. it is currently under test by other people (mainly at mit), and
when i'm reasonably happy i'll give it all away. people who are
_really_ interested can send me mail and i might give you a copy now.
i don't want to distribute patches at this point - if i do give it to
you then you'll get the whole thing.
i'm also interested in hearing from other people doing similar things.
