I've recently heard that in the (hopefully) near future DECwindows will run using Motif. Can anyone from DEC confirm or deny this? Has anyone else heard this rumor? Or is it just that....a rumor?? If there is some truth to it, will the implementation be strictly for Ultrix- running machines, or be extended to VAX/VMS machines also? Duane Setterdahl -University of Illinois

Yes, Digital has a commitment to ship Motif. We are already shipping a Motif layered product on Ultrix. Over the next year, we will integrate Motif fully into our base product. This transition time will allow us to build a complete release, including the transition of our out-of-the-box applications. It also allows our ISVs and end user developers to transition "gracefully". We will support Motif on both Ultrix and VMS operating systems. Your local sales rep should have ordering information, and more details on our transition plan. -chuck
