Does anyone know of a program for X that multiplexes a single serial connection into multiple Unix windows? There is a popular program "UW" that runs on a remote Unix host, and has several microcomputer implementations of the local side (Mac, atari, etc). I wonder if anyone has done the local side for X. As an alternative I know there are also some micro programs that use the Layers protocol meant for the Blit. -- Ken Mandelberg | km@mathcs.emory.edu PREFERRED Emory University | {rutgers, gatech}!emory!km UUCP Dept of Math and CS | km@emory.bitnet NON-DOMAIN BITNET Atlanta, GA 30322 | Phone: (404) 727-7963

In article <6032@emory.mathcs.emory.edu> you write: |> Does anyone know of a program for X that multiplexes a single serial |> connection into multiple Unix windows? I've written exactly this. It's called XMX (X Protocol Multiplexor). We've used (gradually improving versions of) it here at Brown for 2 years or so in our electronic classroom - a lecture hall with workstations. X-based demonstration programs are run on the the professor's workstation and simultaneously displayed on all the displays in the room. I'm nearly ready to release it. Later this summer, most likely. I'll announce it here, of course. John Bazik jsb@cs.brown.edu
