[comp.windows.x] TWM bug???

nancie@hal.CSS.GOV (Nancie Matson) (07/21/90)

I'm having a problem using TWM with an application, and I'm wondering
if there is a bug in TWM I'm not aware of.

I have an application that displays an XImage in a Viewport Widget. There
are several pop-up menus associated with the widget that are all
created as children of the toplevel and are all transientShellWidgets.

The problem is that whenever I pop-up one of the menus
over the image, the image isn't refreshed when the menu is popped
down. I'm under the impression that a widget created with XtCreate-
PopupWidget, should take care of refreshing the screen beneath it
whenever it is popped up and down.

I also have other widgets on the display and whenever the menu is
popped up over any of these, it is restored upon pop-down.

Is there something I should be doing to preserve my image each time I
pop-up the menu? I have run the software under UWM, and I do not
have this problem. That's why I thought there may be a bug in the
TWM software.

I'm running this on both a Sparc-1 and a 3/60 (SUNS). I have X11R4
patched upto 11 on the Sparc-1 and upto 9 on the 3/60. All the
widgets in the application are from Xt or Xw.

Please help. I've been puzzled over this for some time now, and it's
beginnning to drive me crazy!

Thanx!
