We need to design an X server for a rather unique display that is unlike anything the X sample server was intended for. This will involve some major modifications of the sample server, or perhaps a complete recoding. Does anyone know of any articles or books which disscuses the architecture of the X sample server, or other X server implementation? We're looking for information on all layers of the server design, but are especially interested in the device independent layer. (We know of the documentation in the distribution tapes, but this is of limited value.) Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
