[comp.windows.x] xdbx 2.1 for X11R4 available now

cheung@titan.sw.mcc.com (Po Cheung) (07/27/90)

Xdbx version 2.1 for X11R4 is now available for anonymous ftp on
expo.lcs.mit.edu (18.30.0.212) under contrib as xdbx2.1.tar.Z :

-rw-rw-rw-  1 ftp        114383 Jul 26 16:21 xdbx2.1.tar.Z

This is the most recent version currently available. Be careful
not to grab xdbx.tar.Z, which is an older version.

This version should work properly on Sun-3, Sun-4 workstations,
and DECstation 3100. It will probably work on the VAXstations
also but I don't have the machine to test it.

For those who cannot ftp, this will be posted to comp.sources.x
but it probably won't show up there for some time since the
moderator is out.

Enjoy,

There is something very ugly with the new xdbx version: The default
window sizes are too small (i. e. unusable) and have to be resized (i.
e. enlarged) every time xdbx is called.

Could this please be reverted so that I get the windows sized the same
way as in V2.0? Or can the appication defaults be edited to achieve this?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks to Dana Chee (dana@thumper.bellcore.com) for the patch to the
xdbx application defaults file.

I have put a new copy of xdbx2.1.tar.Z on expo :

-rw-rw-rw-  1 ftp        114433 Jul 27 11:36 xdbx2.1.tar.Z

For those who ftp before 11:36 EDT on July 27, you may want to ftp it
again.  Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks,

Strange, I get normal sized windows when I fire it up.

On the other hand, when I compiled xdbx with gcc 1.37 on my Sun4 4.0.3 I
promptly got a core dump. Compiling it with cc fixed that problem.

That was due to the incorrect application defaults file included in the
orginal distribution. A fixed version has already been put on expo.

Hi

	I just got the one posted today (27 July 1990) with the new resource
file and it has some problems, it has some excesive backslash's in the
translations....

example:

	*sourceWindow.translations:             #override \\n\
        	<Btn1Down>:             SelectStart() SelectWord() \\n\
       	 Shift<Btn1Up>:          Update() SelectEnd() PrintSelection() \\n\
        <Btn1Up>:               Update() SelectEnd() \\n\

I believe it should be:

	*sourceWindow.translations:             #override \n\
	        <Btn1Down>:             SelectStart() SelectWord() \n\
        	Shift<Btn1Up>:          Update() SelectEnd() PrintSelection()
\n\		       		<Btn1Up>:               Update() SelectEnd()
	Would somebody verify this please, thanx....
