Suppose that, using XV11R4's twm, you set up a window as an "AutoRaise" window. Now suppose you set things up so that some key/button combination is associated with the "f.lower" function. If you now point to the AutoRaise window and press (and release) the associated key/button combination, the window will be lowered on the press--but immediately raised again on the release (if there's no other window underneath the place where you press).
