[comp.windows.x] Debugging XView program: dbx won't work

boucher@ireq.hydro.qc.ca (S.Boucher (8458)) (08/02/90)

I'm not sure if this is the right group, but since I figured my problem
is probably related to the use of Xview, I submit this question here.

I'm trying to load and execute a program with dbx. The program is
constitued of:

-Fortran modules compiled without -g option
-C modules compiled with -g option
-And of course the Xview lib for which I can't tell about the -g option

The executable file is about 695k bytes.

What I get is:

landry:/home1/apel/boucher/cirsryn % dbx cirsyn
Reading symbolic information...
gettype: file index too large, fileindex 485268, nextfile 121; at ""
(dbx)

What can I do about my problem? Does this mean that my case is hopeless?
Would gdb work better ?

So, being quite in a hurry to find a bug I would greatly appreciate any help
concerning the use of dbx. You can send your answers via E-mail.

Thank's in advance.
