All, I'm running X on two separate monitors. I also run two different window managers on these monitors along with different configuration files, such as xrdb files (.Xdefaults). It seems that when I do xrdb, it affects both of the screens even when I specify the -display switch. Is this normal? -Steve PS. I'm running X11R4 on Sunos 4.0.3 SparcStation1.

Are the two monitors two screens on one display (foo:0.0 and foo:0.1) or two displays (foo:0.0 and foo:1.0)? If, as is probable, the former, yes, this is the way it's supposed to work. (IMO it's wrong, and it's recognized as having problems in environments like yours, but it's what we're stuck with for now.) If the monitors *are* distinct displays, the behavior you describe is major-league buggy. der Mouse old: mcgill-vision!mouse new: mouse@larry.mcrcim.mcgill.edu
