[comp.windows.x] Toolkit Events And Mouse Tracking

totty@flute.cs.uiuc.edu (Brian Totty) (08/10/90)

From people's replies to my earlier question, it seems that
it isn't possible to have both a single and double click of
a mouse button in a translation table and have them differentiated
exclusively. Some people suggested I would have to install an
event handler or get low level event access.

In a related question (probably a common one, but I don't see
any relevant letters in my current set of articles) I want to
handle a mouse click and then under certain circumstances, track
the mouse movement. I tried using Xlib XNextEvent calls from
within my click action routine, but the MotionNotify events seem
to be masked off. I tried putting PointerMotionMask in the
event_mask before XtCreateWindow, but that didn't seem to work.

All I want to do is track the mouse from within a button down
action function. What do I need to do to make this work without
messing up the toolkit? Is there sample source somewhere?

						Thanks Very Much,
