We are using vnews version B 2.10.2 of 9/18/84. Has anyone else noted the apparent omissijMon of any kind of functional digest handling? I miss it, and prefer responding to digests with 'e', then returning to them with the old 'readnews' package to break up a digest into individual messages. I may simply be naively missing something that's otherwise obvious. If so, I'd sure appreciate having it pointed out. Thanks. -- --Dwight Ernest KA2CNN \ Usenet:...vax135!timeinc!dwight Time Inc. I don't know what "readnews" offers, but if you compile "vnews" with "-DDIGPAGE", it will start each article in a digest on a new screen (I just tried in on "fa.telecom", and it seems to work). Try it and see if it's what you want; if not, maybe mention what you'd like as a suggestion for a new "vnews" feature. Guy Harris {seismo,ihnp4,allegra}!rlgvax!guy

P.S. to my earlier posting: the "-DDIGPAGE" code in "vnews" treats a bunch of "-"s as a digest separator, which confuses the heck out of it when reading things like Gene Spafford's list of active newsgroups. Guy Harris {seismo,ihnp4,allegra}!rlgvax!guy

I posted a request a few weeks ago about how to extract an article from a digest using "rn", and got the same kind of response as Guy Harris offered to the query about vnews -- there is a way to SEE individual items, but apparently no way to SAVE them. I, too, go to "readnews" and use the "d" command to deal with digests. Since fa.info-mac has gone over to digest form, this deficiency in "rn" (and presumably "vnews") is doubly annoying. -- Martin Taylor {allegra,linus,ihnp4,floyd,ubc-vision}!utzoo!dciem!mmt {uw-beaver,qucis,watmath}!utcsri!dciem!mmt
