(reposted and paraphrased from the xvideo mailing list) The Video Extension to X (VEX) is approaching a beta release in late August. In preparation for that event, a collection of papers has been made available on expo.lcs.mit.edu for anonymous ftp. VEX Protocol and Encoding, version 5.9 (previous was 5.8) VEX Library, version 1.10 (previous was 1.7) VEX Devices and Controls, version 1.3 (new) VEX Your Hardware (a description of VEX) (same as before) Pleasing the Eye (Unix Review) (same as before) Windows and Video: Now They're Talking (same as before) (Computer Technology Review) They are all in postscript format, contained in the ~268k file contrib/vex-papers.tar.Z If you don't have ftp access to expo, you can receive the papers via electronic mail by sending e-mail to vex-papers-request@amarok.wv.tek.com. This mail address gets parsed by hand, so please be patient. You should join the xvideo mailing list so that you will be aware when the beta release and other papers are made available. You can do this by sending a mail message to xvideo-request@expo.lcs.mit.edu asking to become a member of the list. -- Jeff C.
