[comp.windows.x] 3D plotting help needed.

qdny@vax5.cit.cornell.edu (08/15/90)

My apologies if there is a blatantly obvious answer to this question;
I'm a newcomer to xwindows so I've got a lot of learning to do.

Is there a public-domain library of xy and xyz (2-dimensional and
3-dimensional) plotting routines usable to create graphs in an X
environment?

Background behind question: As a new grad student, I've just been put in
charge of a program which combines Fortran simulation code with an
Xwindows front end written in C. The original Fortran code produced its
output using the DISSPLA package of Fortran subroutines, a package which
we want to eliminate from the code. The current front end needs some
better graphing capabilities, i.e. it would be nice to have something
to handle tic marks, axis labelling, 3-dimensional scatter plots, etc.

I have searched some of the ftp sites but haven't found anything which
meets my needs yet.

Email replies preferred, but I'll probably also get your message if you
post it.  Thanks in advance!
