[comp.windows.x] R5 Portability Improvements

mikep@sco.COM (Mike Patnode) (08/21/90)

1. It's been mentioned before, but I'll say it again: Please take
gettimeofday() out of lib/Xt/NextEvents.c. Nobody in their right mind
is going to use that implementation anyways. If it's in bsdemul, at
least people will see it.

which leads me to my next suggestion:

2. Why not have Xlib have the same structure as the server, with all the
OS dependent parts in a subdirectory: ./lib/X/os/{BSD,SYSV}? Then
porting Xlib to your machine would just involve the apropo directory.
The sysV-bsdemul is a start, but the server/os structure does a much
cleaner job. The connection mechanism should be put here as well.
