[comp.windows.x] Has anybody done 'xwd' internal to a program?

I'm trying to implement the equivalent of xwd internally in a
program, fired off by a button hit.  I only want part of the
application to be dumped - a Motif drawing area - instead of the
entire application, as xwd seems to do.

Has anybody done this?  Alternatively, are xwd sources available?
