I'm running a VAXstation3100 with DECwindows 2.2.
When I try to load a nice color picture on the root window, xloadimage
aborts with a message indicating that it won't change the default
colormap. So be it.
When I load the picture with the number of colors reduced to 64, it
loads fine. When I subsequently try to load the picture with the
number of colors reduced to 128, it fails with the message mentioned
above. As a side result, the colormap is changed, and the picture on
the root now displays fancy psychedelic colors. I don't know if this
is a bug or a feature, but I like it very much! The other colors (of
the windows, backgrounds etc) are not changed. Good.
Does someone have a program that, running in the background, changes
the root window's colormap as does xloadimage, with regular intervals?
I sure would like that.
Thanks for any info.
Johan
