[comp.windows.x] Announcing Xcard, a cardfiler/rolodex for X

ssdken@watson.Claremont.EDU (Ken Nelson) (09/01/90)

I have just uploaded Xcard 1.0 to expo.lcs.mit.edu in the contrib
 directory.

This is the first public release of Xcard. I encourage you to
download it, compile and run it.

I am not posting Xcard to comp.sources.x yet, I am going to wait for
it to stabalize from any bug reports that come from people who download
 it.

I developed Xcard on a Sun 3/50 running X11R4. It only compiles against
X11R4 but talks to R3 and R4 servers.

If you get Xcard going, send me an e-mail, my ego likes to know how
many people are using stuff I write.

Note: Please send bug reports to ssdken@jarthur.claremont.edu.
I am going out of town from 4-12 Sept and will not be able to
handle them immediately, so please be patient.

 ------------------------- Xcard Readme Follows. ----------------------

Current Release: Xcard 1.0, 31 Aug 90
Author : Kenneth C. Nelson, ssdken@jarthur.claremont.edu
Requires : To Compile - X11R4, Athena Widgets (-lXaw), -lXext
		 To Run - X11R3 or X11R4

About Xcard

Xcard models a stack of index cards. You can create, edit, sort, and
search index cards. Only one set of index cards can be used at
a time, but you can merge cardfiles together.
Look at the man page for more info.

Making Xcard

  Type : make xcard

No Imakefile yet. I am having trouble getting Imake to cruise
recursive directories (like the dynobj directory). I would welcome
an Imakefile from anybody who wants to send one.

Testing Xcard

  Type: xcard ToDo.cf

This runs xcard on the sample ToDo cardfile. Play around with it,
  see if you like it!

Bugs/Improvements

I would like to here from you if you install and use Xcard. A
simple e-mail with Xcard in the subject line would be fine.

If you find bugs, or want to offer improvements please e-mail
or call as a last resort.

  Send bugs,comments,patches to:

   ssdken@jarthur.claremont.edu

Include Xcard in the subject line.

	Good luck,
