Help! Does anyone know of any good reference books dealing with the Athena Widgets. Basically something to use rather than trying to decipher the include files. Doug E. Fresh

I use the O'Reilly books Volume 4 and 5, and the documentation provided on the X11R4 distribution tape. The on-line stuff works best when used with Volume's 4 and 5. It contains a brief intro. I learn alot from other source. Good examples are xrn, xmail, and xdbx. Good luck, Ken Nelson Principal Engineer Software Systems Design 3627 Padua Av. Claremont, CA 91711 (714) 624-3402

O'Reilly and Associates, The X Window System Series (8 volumes), O'Reilly and Associates, 1988, 1989, 1990.... This is a 7 (and growing) volume set of books. Volume 5 is a lightly edited version of the MIT manual... Volume 4 (by Adrian Nye and Tim O'Reilly) is a new tutorial on the X Toolkit intrinsics (Xt). Volume 6 (not yet available) will cover various widget sets, including OSF/Motif, AT&T Open Look, Athena, etc.). From Ken Lee's online monthly X bibliography. Volumes 4 & 5 are it for now. They are quite good (IMO). -Miles
