[Addresses can come in handy ...]

my first reaction was that postal addresses are of little use, however,
thinking a little about the "real" situation has convinced me otherwise:

Consider:

1) you may store some messages for a long time before you find yourself working
	on something which makes you want to communicate with the author.  What
	if the author is no longer working at the same place?  His mail-box
	has disappeared and even though he may be on the net somewhere else,
	you may not be aware of his "new identity"

2) a short time ago, my principal machine got sick for most of 2 weeks,
	and mail addressed to me here would have "gotten stuck" in the
	forwarding queue between machines on the local-net and you would
	not have received a "rejection-notice".  A phone-number and mail
	address could have been helpful.

So my conclusion is that those folks who want to post their phone-number and
mail-address act perfectly reasonable.  Now, personally, ......   (-:
