[comp.windows.x] xdm, xterm, ksh, and .profile question

brian@apt.bungi.com (Brian Litzinger) (09/19/90)

I'm running x11r3 and using xdm on my i386 UNIX V.3.2 ISC 2.0.2
system.

My ~/.xsession files has lines like the following:

xterm -fn 9x15 -fg black -bg cyan -g 80x24-0+72 -ms red -cr red &

The problem is that the ksh's that are spawned do not run through
the ~/.profile file. I have to do that part manually.

Can someone tell my how to convince my system to make the ksh's run
through the ~/.profile automatically?

Easy! Just add -ls to the xterm options. That will give you a login
shell.

Good luck!
