"Does anyone know of a tool for regression testing of an X application?"
The above question is sporadically posted and probably of general (if not
intense) interest to many readers of this mailing list. However, published
responses are relatively few:
* 3-Apr-90 from decvax!krisis.zk3.dec.com!coutu@bloom-beacon.mit.edu:
A summary of implementation/usage issues, but no definitive statements
about where to find or who's developing.
* 24-May-90 from frisbee!jcb@sun.com:
Jim Becker responds to a posting, citing his XGhost implementation as a
regression tool.
* 9-Aug-90 from frisbee!jcb@sun.com:
Jim Becker posts his (shell archived) XGhost code.
Forgive me if I've overlooked and/or deleted the message that would have
answered my question.
There are hints that the X Consortium is working on a tool. And I also
remember seeing a journalling tool announcement for the IBM RS/6000 but I
don't recall the product or vendor name. But right this very moment, I need
something for APOLLO, DG, HP, IBM, and SUN. (And I would hardly be alone in
this yearning.)
If you folks out there have further information, please respond directly to
me. Two weeks after I send this , I will summarize what I've received. (If I
receive anything :-).

There are hints that the X Consortium is working on a tool. We aren't, but Digital is. They have recently gone to beta test with XTrap (which was described at the last MIT X Conference). Don't ask me when it will be generally available, because I don't know the answer. Don't ask me who to pester, because he hasn't told me he wants to be pestered. :-) I think he reads this list, so maybe he'll answer of his own accord.
