[comp.windows.x] levels of grayscale with xpr

butler@ucselx.sdsu.edu (Mike Butler) (09/21/90)

I am having a problem of getting a 256 level grayscale image
stored as a postscript file, so I can get a hard copy of it
 on an external printer.
I can save it useing the 'xwd' command, but then when I use
xpr to get it as a postscript file, it just saves one plane.
Does anyone know the correct command line option to give,
if there is one, or know of another utility to use?

 Thank you,

Mike,

Use the -gray 4 and -compact options to xpr. I would also suggest you up the
baud rate of your printer/printer-server higher than 9600 though. These can
be *large* files.
