I'm afraid Ralph put out these patches and then split for two weeks,
so it may be fun times for a few days...

Yes, we know xterm charproc.c fails to compile under gcc, we'll get an
official patch out for it once we find out what other problems you all
find with the fixes.

As for shared libraries, we haven't noticed a problem here, but that
may be just our particular circumstances.  It would be helpful if you
could try to pinpoint the problem, and explain enough about what the
requirements are for binary compatibility of your shared library
mechanism for us to make sense out of it.  Whether this was just an
oversight in the fix, or a particular implementation assumption about
how shared libraries work, I can't say without more information.
