[comp.windows.x] Displaying graphics from VMS to Sun X server

paul@castle.ed.ac.uk (Paul Haldane) (10/05/90)

We have some client software from a company called Uniras on one of our
VAX/VMS machines. This is a piece of graphic software and so uses
things like GCs, pixmaps, createimages and the like. When we use a
decstation connected by decnet as the server, then the software works
OK. When we use a colour Sun (running X11R4) or Tektronix XN27 connected by tcp/ip,
then we get the following failure at initialisation time:

Illegal unit size: 8 found in routine: _normalizeimagebits
%XLIB-F-LIBABORT, xlib fatal error

The routine _normalizeimagebits is internal to decwindows which makes us
suspect that there may be an incompatibility problem. Has anyone had
similar experience?
