Okay, awhile ago, somebody requested info on the copyrights, compatibilities, platforms, and performances of the various window enviorments (X, OL, SUNtools, etc....). Most of this is in the FAQ list, but the posting had some more details involved (like, you can run xxxx on a yyyy and build Xxxx apps, except Yyyy , with vendors zzzz supporting Zzzz..etc..). If anyone has these postings, could point me to where I could get them (already have the faqlist), or could do a quick summary of these type of things, it would be greatly appreciated. Why? I'm seriously considering purchasing a unix box for my home use, want something not too expensive, that will do the standard X stuff I'm used to, and/or a decent selection of the ususal applications. I know this is kind of vague, but the only info I have on machines that I'm considering is the usual pile of ads, brochures, and random sales pr stuff.
