[comp.windows.x] Solution: tvtwm, cm, and key bindings

hmp@frc2.frc.ri.cmu.edu (Henning Pangels) (10/18/90)

Well, thanks to the underwhelming response from the world, I had to go
and investigate myself why the calendar manager (or any
application that loads the xview stuff, it seems) screwed up my
key bindings used to scroll around in the tvtwm panner. It turns out
that running an xview-dependent application (such as cm, xrolo or
framemaker) assigns 5 function keys under modifier 2, as reported by xmodmap:

mod2 F13 (0x20), F16 (0x3a), F18 (0x50), F19 (0x66), F20 (0x68)

Of course, I had to pick 4 of these for my tvtwm scrolling
functions....
Running xmodmap -e 'clear mod2' after the antisocial application
returns things back to normal.
