[comp.windows.x] Apollo's TMLIB and C++ X packages

gerson@parc.xerox.com (Dan Gerson) (10/19/90)

On the X11 distribution tape there is a package called the Text Management
Library by Apollo. Does anyone know anything about this package? The
documentation looks interesting, but I'm concerned that all of the software and
documentation says that TMLib is "Confidential and Proprietary", even though it
is on the contrib distribution. As the restricted rights notice reads, I
certainly can't use it, and have no idea what it is doing on a public
distribution. Any clues as to its legal status?

And while I'm on the subject, I'd like to ask a question so broad that I can't
really expect a reasonable answer, but that won't stop me from trying...
I'm interested in "higher level" window system packages supporting features such
as formatted text presentation and editing, tree diagram browsing, tables, etc
which run on top of X and have a programming interface usable from C++.
Basically, I'm looking for packages which are useful in building document
handling applications such as a WYSIWYG editor. I am aware of InterViews, (and
Andrew of course although it is not C++) but am curious about what other
commercial or publically available software exists. I'm also aware of some
commerical libraries at the Xt level, but am interested in something a bit
higher-level.
