[comp.windows.x] Sun 3/50 as an X terminal

rroux@rigel.sdd.trw.com (Ray Roux) (10/17/90)

A short while ago ther was a thread on how to setup a Sun 3/50 to be
an X terminal. At the time I wan't too interested and only gave it a
passing glance, now (sigh) I need the info. If anyone saved the outcome
could you please send it to me?

Thanks!

I didn't see any replys, so...

I have the Sun version, and created a VAX version. The Sun version is all
in one place and I could put it up for ftp. The VAX version (talored to
a VS2000) is scattered about (it includes some diskless set-up utils I
had to write). If there is 'nuf demand for it I'll package it up and put it
up for ftp also.

The Sun3/50 makes a much better terminal, it seems to cross some threshold,
by xstones the VAXen arn't far behind, but for normal useage the Sun is more
snappy.

For heavy useage (xtank) the VAXen were too slow. (5 player games with lots
of little flamethrower pixmaps were unbareablely slow, untill I made a little
tweak to the xtank code...)
