I have a friend in San Diego who works for Starnet, a satallite communications company. He is interested in becoming a new site, but there may be a software problem. He has two HP 6400's, and noone I know is aware of available news software, except perhaps somewhere in ARPA. Anyone have suggestions? His company might prove helpful with Stargate, if anyone needs an extra impetus. Assuming UCSD's agreement, he would connect through sdcsvax. I would appreciate any advice you can offer, including names of others to contact if you don't have the answer off hand. Thanks in advance.... 0 0 (Crises?.... Can't help with the software. Any help regarding Stargate is always appreciated, though it is doubtful that a private satellite communications firm will be able to contribute much technically at this point. Most (if not all) of those firms operate on private transponders which are not rebroadcast by cable companies. One of the basic concepts of Stargate is that if you can receive WTBS on your local cable off the satellite, you don't normally have to have an earthstation. With private transponders, you MUST have your own dish. Still, anybody who wants to help (particularly in the consortium issues now under study) is welcome. --Lauren--
