[comp.windows.x] Chinese support in kterm!

mleisher@nmsu.edu (Mark Leisher) (11/10/90)

I have just put kterm version 4.1.1 on expo.lcs.mit.edu [18.30.0.212].

This version of kterm displays three types of encoded Chinese text: 8
bit GuoBiao, Shift-GuoBiao, and Big5, and the encoding can be changed
interactively from one of the pulldown menus. There is also a file
called kterm-4.1.1-README on expo. This README file is also in the
tar'ed and compressed code. Please read it.

The code should be pretty stable. We have been using the GuoBiao and
Big5 for about 2-3 weeks, but I have only done a few quick cut and
paste tests of the Shift-GuoBiao mode(I added it yesterday), but I
didn't notice any problems.

(The ANSI color sequences have not been added yet. This will come later.)

REMEMBER TO USE **BINARY** MODE WHEN FTP'ing kterm-4.1.1.tar.Z!!

I will be unavailable until Monday, November 12. But send bug reports
or problems, and I will try to fix/solve them as quickly as possible.

If you don't have ftp access, send me email and I can try to get a
copy to you sometime next week.
