[net.news] cleaning up the net -- software solutions

dave@uwvax.UUCP (Dave Cohrs) (07/19/85)

Speaking of software solutions, I think we need one here:

> Relay-Version: version B 2.10.2 9/18/84; site uwvax.UUCP

What's this 'seefromline' junk on the 'Path:' line? The way news is
configured here, it sends replys to the address on the 'Path:' as pathalias
doesn't always work well. Existing software doesn't know that it should
'seefromline'. I hope that this version of Notesfiles is not something
standard. If so, please fix this silliness before all notesfiles sites
are impossible to reply to.

Good point. I've mailed a couple of complaints to whatever!root
but haven't gotten any response. Also, who's been eating long Path: lines?
I've had pathalias (on the machine nextdoor) use weird routes on
occasion that have confused Mail (mailx), so I try to use the Path: info
as much as possible. WILL SITES THAT EAT LONG LINES AND LONG SUBJECTS
CEASE AND DESIST FROM THIS BEHAVIOUR! Thank you for your attention.
